Afrobeats icon, Davido, was not wrong to belt out "Love is sweet oo, when money enter, love is sweeter" in his song, Assurance. Although it is common to hear that money can't buy love and that love costs nothing, reality proves otherwise.
The stories we often encounter clearly show the impact of money on love and relationships. It can make or break it. Couples dealing with financial stress tend to have lower levels of satisfaction and enjoyment in their relationships.

Racheal had been saving towards becoming a mother. The plan was to have enough to cater for her children and to resign and start a fashion design business. In 2020, when Racheal had her second child, Nigeria’s official inflation rate climbed to 17 per cent. What this meant for her was that her savings were now 17 per cent less valuable.
