NFTs beyond bored apes🦍
NFTs have become a buzz word these days, so you must have heard of them. They're all over the news and your social media feed. But chances are that you still don't know what they are.
Well, put simply, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are digital items that can be purchased and traded using blockchain technology. Last year, NFT collections like the bored ape and Cryptopunks caught everyone's attention as they enriched their holders. That same buzz has driven global attention to NFTs as many want to own the next digital animal painting that will make them millionaires.
That same buzz has crept into Africa today. Most people are flooding the space for speculative reasons. However, Africans can do so much more with NFTs than flipping digital arts for quick profits.
Last week, we asked in a poll what the most important use case for NFTS could be. The majority of our audience voted arts. But there's still many other untapped sectors.
So if you're curious about how NFTs work and how this technology can transform Africa, join us on Thursday, May 19th, 2022, to discuss the possibilities of NFTs for Africans beyond speculation. We will be tapping into the expertise of Abieyuwa, a multi-disciplinary Artist and curator; Jay Shapiro, CEO, Pan African Gaming Group (PAGG); Chris Malize, NFTs and Web3 community builder, and Delz Erinle, co-founder, Thrill Dao.
