Zimbabwe+Blockchain+Beef exports=🚀
Hello Venturer,
In 2018, Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector experienced a change in fortune with the outbreak of a tick-borne disease that caused the death of 50,000 cattle. Before then, Zimbabwe was renowned for the quality of its beef, raking in about $50 million yearly from beef exports. But the unprecedented outbreak caused a setback for the booming market.
Last year, a blockchain-based traceability system brought end-to-end visibility to the cattle supply chain in the country, and Zimbabwean farmers could again prove the origin and health records of their cattle. How does this work?
Join us tomorrow, Thursday, the 21st of April, at 6:30 p.m WAT to hear from Jehiel Oliver of Hello Tractor, Bolaji Akinboro of ToroNet Chain & Voriancorelli, and Reginald Alango of Vibra about how blockchain can help transform agriculture in Africa.

What's the next frontier for blockchain in Africa?
Despite its increasing popularity, blockchain technology is only widely adopted in Africa’s financial sector. And although it is yet to be embraced by several industries, many are finding that it is critical to providing secure transactions, reducing compliance costs, and speeding up data transfer processing.
Last week, we put out a poll asking what industry would be the next frontier for blockchain in Africa. The majority of our audience voted agriculture, citing governments’ attention to the industry in comparison to other industries as the reason for their decision.
